Assistant Professor Shih-Chun Lin, Deputy Director of the Research Development and Global Affairs Division at the College of Nursing, Kaohsiung Medical University, together with Po-Hsuan Lai, a master’s student in the Master’s Program of Long-Term Care in Aging, were invited by the School of Nursing and Medical Technology, University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City to deliver academic presentations at the 42nd Scientific and Technological Conference.
The conference focused on “Caring with AI: Human-Centered Innovations in Geriatric and Palliative Nursing.” Associate Professor Eric L. Krakauer of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School was invited to provide expert commentary on global developments in palliative care, highlighting the conference’s strong international visibility and academic impact.
In addition, the conference promoted academic exchange with several partner institutions. Associate Professor Yen‑Chin Chen of National Sun Yat‑sen University spoke on sleep technology and aging care, while Associate Professor Wei‑Shu Lai of National Cheng Kung University presented research on comfort care in palliative nursing, further strengthening inter‑university and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Under the guidance of Dr. Nguyen Minh Tuan, Head of the Department of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever at Children’s Hospital No. 1 in Ho Chi Minh City, Assistant Professor Lin conducted on‑site visits to several key clinical units. These visits included the Department of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, Infectious Diseases Intensive Care Unit, and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Through these visits, participants gained in‑depth insights into pediatric healthcare delivery and critical care practices in Vietnam, laying a solid foundation for future international collaboration in education and research.
