This Spring at Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU), new leadership faces will welcome new and returning undergraduate and graduate students and faculty. KMU has named Distinguished Professor Ching-Min Chen, RN, DNS, FAAN, FFNMRCSI as the new Dean of the College of Nursing, effective February 1, 2026.

 

 Leading a New Era of Excellence

 

Professor Chen is a distinguished leader in the field of nursing education and public health. With a career spanning several decades, she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to advancing nursing research, community health, and international collaboration. Prior to this appointment, Professor Chen has held numerous influential roles in both academia and public service, earning a reputation as a visionary advocate for nursing professional development.

 

 She currently serves as Vice President of the Taiwan Nurses Association and represents the Western Pacific Region as a Board Member of the International Council of Nurses. Dr. Chen earned her Doctor of Nursing Science degree from Indiana University in 1995, specializing in health policy and community health. She served as a member of Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan from 2018 to 2020 and from 2022 to 2024, advocating for nurses’ working conditions, professional recognition, and long-term care policy. Her professional interests include healthy community development, gerontology, and long-term care. She is the first Asia-based Board Member of the American Academy of Nursing and the first Taiwanese Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

 Global Partnerships: Expanding international exchange programs and collaborative research with world-class institutions.
